Contexto cultural
Glaciers carved this 15-km fjord over millions of years; the 'Seven Sisters' and 'Suitor' waterfalls plunge down kilometre-high cliffs, and abandoned fjord farms tell of human life against the odds. Inscribed as a World Heritage Site in 2005, it's a scene of snowy peaks, emerald water and rainbows as cruise boats glide slowly through — to Norwegians, the landscape that 'makes Norway Norway'.
Costumbres locales
- Norwegians revere nature (the outdoor philosophy of friluftsliv) and are punctual with a strong environmental conscience
- tipping isn't compulsory, and restaurant bills usually include service.
Religión y creencias
- Norwegian Lutheranism was historically the state religion — be quiet when visiting small churches in the fjord area
- the fjord itself has no religious character and is more a vessel of nature worship.

- If you have drunk alcohol, don't drive
- Judging by your home country's standards that you are still fit to drive
The drink-driving limit is about a quarter of England's, and can mean a fine or even prison; on-the-spot fines for other traffic offences reach NOK 10,000.
