Contexto cultural
Pokhara is Nepal's 'lake city', where Phewa Lake mirrors the snowy peaks of the Annapurnas and Machapuchare. The lakeside town was once a base camp for trekkers and is now full of cafés and guesthouses; on the hill on the south shore, the World Peace Pagoda — a symbol of peace built on the initiative of a Japanese monk after the Second World War — looks out over the whole lake.
Costumbres locales
- Boating on the lake and cycling along the shore are classic experiences
- taking a boat out at dawn to watch the peaks turn gold is a once-in-a-lifetime photo for countless travellers.
Religión y creencias
- The Peace Pagoda is a Buddhist holy site: walk around it clockwise and keep quiet
- the small Hindu temple on the lake always has worshippers.
