The market is held on the Hauptmarkt in the centre of Nuremberg's old town and named after the 'Christkind': a gift-giving tradition traced back to Martin Luther moving children's present-giving day to Christmas Eve. The wooden huts sell traditional Christmas decorations, mostly handmade, and treats.
