Por qué es tan popular
The JR Tadami Line winds along the Tadami River and is called 'the world's most romantic railway'. Cut by heavy rain in 2011, it reopened throughout in October 2022 after 11 years, and the 'revival' story plus images of trains crossing the bridge in autumn-leaves and snow seasons flooded YouTube and Instagram photography circles, making the 'First Tadami River Bridge viewpoint' a photographers' mecca in Tōhoku.

Contexto cultural
The Tadami Line opened throughout in 1971 and is the lifeline of the mountain villages of Oku-Aizu; Enzō-ji in Yanaizu (home of Fukuman Kokūzō Bodhisattva), along the line, is a temple a thousand years old. The image of railway, snow, river and bridge is a microcosm of Japan's 'satoyama' landscape.
Costumbres locales
- On the trail to the viewpoint, don't stray off the path or climb the railings
- keep quiet while waiting for trains at the roadside station (there are many photographers, so be considerate about spots)
- the trail may close in winter because of snow.
Religión y creencias
No direct connection. Enzō-ji is a Tendai temple — if you stop at one of 'Japan's three great Kokūzō temples', follow temple etiquette.
